So wellbeing everyone’s heard of it, everyone talks about it, so what on earth is it a buzzword a myth a joke, can it be achieved?
The World Health Organization defines positive mental health as “a state of well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community”.
Wellbeing has been called the combination of feeling good and functioning well. Experiencing positive emotions such as happiness as well as looking at your own potential having control over what’s going on in your life with a sense of purpose and experiencing positive relationships.
So how do we get there?
A combination of how we feel our emotions and life satisfaction and how we function relationships with others, personal control, purpose in life and independence.
Being happy, experiencing positive emotions like love, joy or compassion, and feeling generally satisfied with life.
Defined as including hedonic (enjoyment, pleasure) and eudemonic (meaning, fulfilment) happiness, as well as resilience.
It can include our connection to culture, community, spirituality and/or religion and includes the beliefs, values, mental models and ethics we hold.
Spending quality time with your loved ones even something as simple as going out for a drink or engaging in volunteer work.
Aa combination of how we feel our emotions and life satisfaction and how we function in relationships with others, purpose in life and independence.
